NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

" For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives." Romans 6:4(ESV) Man has been given a choice to live either of these two lives on earth: The life of the world which ends in death or The New Life in Christ which continues in eternity.  New life in Christ or also called the Life of God was purposely bought and brought to us through the death and Ressurection of Christ Jesus, for as many as belief in Him will this life be given to live therein. It is characterized by the full nature of Christ which some of its expressions include but are not limited to: A. Holiness (Holy Living ) - New life is characterized by holiness which is void of sin and iniquity, consecrated only unto God to dwell in and for His use.  B. Righteousness unto God and man - Another quality that characterizes the new life in Christ is righteousness as it brings it into light and full expressio...

And surely I am with you always; A poem

Before His ascension to heaven,  He had a discussion with the disciples,  Teaching them to adhere to all that he has taught.  And finally, he assured them, I am with you always. His word is coming to you today,  In times of tribulations,  He is capable of providing solutions,  Remember, He is with you always, He who works in diverse ways. When it looks all blurry, Though it seem like you want to ri (sink),  He is with you,  Never lose your faith, He will help you.  In the book of Isaiah, It was written;  When you pass through the fire,  You shall not be burned, Neither, shall the flame kindle upon you, So says Messiah.  Whatever season of life it might be, What God says will be,  Always remember He said he will be with thee, And that, is enough.  The presence of Jesus doesn't mean there won't be challenges, but be rest assured, you'll overcome.

Learning from Delilah

Image
One of the most popular bible stories we heard growing up was the story of the powerful judge in Israel, Samson, and the woman who brought about his downfall, Delilah. Often when people want to make a bad example of a lady as a warning to men, they use Delilah as a case study. From the narration in the book of Judges, She was one of Samson's love interests.  Delilah was a beautiful Philistine woman who was well-known for the role she played in taming Samson, the Nazirite with great powers and a real pain to the Philistines at the time.  Following the story in Judges 16, we would notice in verse 5 that The Philistine Lords came to her and offered her great wealth if she were to discover the secret to her husband's strength. With that much amount of money up for grab, Delilah made it her life's goal to get Samson in the hands of the Philistines.  This is the side of the story where we all skip to the end where Samson was finally captured. Between the...

FORGIVENESS - A way to freedom from the pain cause by our offenders

Image
In the last series on forgiveness we checked its benefits and now let's look further on how forgiveness set us free as an individual from pain of a broken trust from those we love, an abuse, evil done by our closest relatives and so on. Apostle Peter asked how many times should I forgive, Seven times? And "“No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!" Matt. 18:22 (NLT). Now ponder on this seventy times seven is equal to four hundred and ninety times, that's too long to count for me as a child of God before I stop forgiving my brother. Now what is the Lord Jesus trying to teach us. First, men hurting or sinning against you will be so much that you will eventually lose count, or how could a man whose heart is filled with seeking God, loving Him, making sure His will is done on earth and fulfilling God's purpose for his or her life will still have time to be counting and documenting an offence of one against him up to four-hundred and n...

FORGIVENESS: A way to receive forgiveness from God.

Image
Forgiveness is a gift that a Christian must possess and be ready to freely give out at any time it is needed from him to others, either a fellow believer or an unbeliever.  According to Webster Dictionary - Forgiveness means to cease to feel resentment against (an offender).  With the above definition, we see that there's no forgiveness without forgetting, many Christians justify themselves by saying I can forgive but not forget, which means we didn't let go of the resentment but only deceived ourselves. Forgiveness is a matter of the heart because you can only resent someone in your heart and when offering our worship to God it must come from our heart, how do we now place the worship of our God in a heart full of resentment towards another person. During the teaching about Prayer, the Lord teaches us about forgiveness in prayer and its impact Matt. 6:12 "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors".  This shows that whenever we come to the presen...

Are you on good standing?

Image
This topic reminds me of a friend of mine who is currently schooling in one of the prestigious tertiary institutions in this country. He once told me that this sentence, “are you in good standing?” is common among students, especially at the beginning of every session while they await their results. It simply means if they were able to sail through to the next level. In some were found lucky, while others were unable to move to the next level, which might lead to their exit from the institution.     Come to think of it brethren, bringing this to the heavenly race: are you in good standing? This is a question you must answer daily. 1 Corinthians 10:12 says, “Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing firm], take heed lest he falls [into sin] (AMP).  A lot of Christians who think they are sure of themselves, that they will make it to heaven, might not make it to the end because they refused to chec...

The man called Jesus

He was despised and rejected--a man of sorrows, acquainted with bitterest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way when he went by. He was despised, and we did not care. Who is this man? His name is Jesus.  The man was called Jesus.  I know we have heard about this great man and we will continue to hear about Him because He lives forever.  This great man is the son of God.  He was sent forth to bear the iniquity of men.  He is the one whose birth and death were spoken about by the prophets.  Behold, He is the Lamb of God. After the fall of man in the garden of Eden, there was a need to bring men to God. There was a need to restore the relationship and communication that once existed between God and men.   How can this be done? A man needs to shed His blood to cleanse the sin of men because without the shedding of blood, there can't be remission of sin Heb 9:22b and it has to be blood as of a lamb without blemish and spot. For thi...
