Are you on good standing?

This topic reminds me of a friend of mine who is currently schooling in one of the prestigious tertiary institutions in this country. He once told me that this sentence, “are you in good standing?” is common among students, especially at the beginning of every session while they await their results. It simply means if they were able to sail through to the next level. In some were found lucky, while others were unable to move to the next level, which might lead to their exit from the institution.

Come to think of it brethren, bringing this to the heavenly race: are you in good standing? This is a question you must answer daily. 1 Corinthians 10:12 says, “Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing firm], take heed lest he falls [into sin] (AMP).

A lot of Christians who think they are sure of themselves, that they will make it to heaven, might not make it to the end because they refused to check on themselves. This tells us how we must constantly check ourselves so that we won’t miss the heavenly race at the end. Christians are on a journey where heaven is our final destination, so we can’t afford to miss heaven.

Revelation 20:15 says, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (KJV).” This can be scary but that is the plain truth. If after all your works, efforts, labors, and all other religious activities and your name is not found in the book of life that means you are not in good standing. The worst place a man should never think to be in the lake of fire. Brethren, if you will miss everything, you must not miss heaven.

Strive hard to be in good standing because if you don't make it to heaven you are automatically welcome into the lake of fire. Check yourself, the second coming of Christ is sooner than you ever think.
